Payment extension and
instalment plans

For when you need a little more time to pay your bill.

Flexibility when needed

Life doesn't always go to plan and sometimes you need a little flexibility. If you're having a hard time paying your bill, there are a couple of options that may help you.

  • Delay payment of a bill with a payment extension
  • Pay smaller amounts more often and change how often you pay with an instalment plan or payment arrangement.

And remember, you can always pay in advance if you have the money.

Payment extension

If you need more time to pay your bill you can request a payment extension in My Account, the AGL app.

My Account

  1. In the My Account 'Overview' tab, find the bill you'd like more time to pay
  2. Select 'Payment assistance'
  3. Select 'Extend my due date'
  4. Choose the number of extra days you need and select 'Confirm'.

The AGL app

  1. In the AGL app 'Billing' tab, select your bill
  2. Select 'Payment assistance'
  3. Select 'Set up' next to Payment Extension
  4. Choose the number of extra days you need and select ‘Confirm’.

If you're having trouble, send us a message in My Account or the AGL app. Have your account number and recent bill handy.

Instalment plans and payment arrangements

To help customers pay off their balance in more manageable amounts we also offer instalment plans and payment arrangements.

  • With an instalment plan, you can set up weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments to pay off your balance before your next bill is due.
  • With a payment arrangement you can pay off your current balance, and future bills, in instalments over a period of up to 12 months for customers in NSW, QLD, SA or WA, or up to 24 months for customers in VIC. We’ll estimate your future bills based on your previous usage and review your usage estimates with every bill to make sure everything stays on track.

If eligible, you can set this up via My Account or the AGL app using these steps.

In My Account

  1. In the My Account 'Overview' or ‘Billing’ tab, find the bill you'd like more time to pay
  2. Select 'Payment assistance'
  3. Select ‘Set up instalments’
  4. Select 'Set up instalments plan'
  5. Choose one of the available options or customise your payment amount.

Go to 'Payment assistance' in My Account

In the AGL app

  1. In the AGL app 'Billing' tab, select your bill
  2. Select 'Payment assistance'
  3. Select 'Set up' next to Instalment Plan
  4. Choose one of the available options or customise your payment amount.

In My Account

  1. In the My Account 'Overview' or ‘Billing’ tab, select 'Payment assistance'
  2. Select 'Set up instalments'
  3. Select ‘Set up payment arrangement’
  4. Tell us how much and how often you’d like to pay and we’ll arrange the rest.

  1. In the AGL app 'Billing' tab, select your bill
  2. Select 'Payment assistance'
  3. Select 'Set up' next to ‘AGL Payment Arrangement’
  4. Tell us how much and how often you’d like to pay and we’ll arrange the rest.
