Sign-in and passwords: set up and change

How to sign in to My Account and the AGL app, and create or change password and sign-in details.

Sign in for the first time

The email address you entered when you joined AGL is the same one you’ll use to sign in to your account.

If you don’t have a mobile number attached to your account when you sign in for the first time, you’ll be prompted to contact us.

To sign in to My Account or the AGL app for the first time, you can use the link in your welcome email or follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Sign in page, enter your email and select Continue.
  2. Select Forgot Password.
  3. Confirm your email and select Continue. 
  4. Enter the verification code we send to your mobile (you'll be prompted to contact us if you don't have a mobile number on your account).
  5. Enter new password and select Set password.

If you’re having trouble signing in for the first time, you might need to register your account.

Register your account

  1. Enter your email address, then select Continue.
  2. Enter the 6-digit code sent to your email.
  3. Create a password and select Continue.
  4. Enter your AGL account number (you will find this in your welcome email or an AGL bill) then select Continue.
  5. Enter your full name (as it appears on the bill) and date of birth.
  6. Accept terms and conditions to Complete registration.

Sign in

Once you’ve set up your password for AGL Online Services, you’ll be able to sign in to My Account or the AGL app by following these steps:

  1. Enter your email address and select Continue.
  2. Enter your password and select Continue.
  3. Enter your 6-digit verification code sent to your mobile or to your authenticator app.
     

Please note:

  • You need to use your 6-digit verification code within 5 minutes or request a new one by selecting resend code.
  • If you do not have a mobile number on your account you’ll be asked to set up two-factor authentication by adding a mobile number or authenticator app.
  • If you’re having trouble signing in, or your 6-digit verification code doesn't work or you didn’t get one, visit Sign-in problems.

 

Forgot password?

  1. Go to the Sign in page, enter your email and select Continue.
  2. Select Forgot password.
  3. Confirm your email and select Continue.
  4. Enter your 6-digit code and select Continue.
  5. Enter a new password and select Set password.
  6. Enter the verification code we sent to your mobile or authenticator app.

Please note:

  • You need to use your 6-digit verification code within 5 minutes or request a new one by selecting resend code.
  • You’ll be prompted to contact us if you do not have a mobile number on your account.
  • If you have 2FA set up via email, you’ll be prompted to set it up via mobile.
  • If you’re having trouble signing in, didn’t get a verification code or your code isn’t working, visit Sign-in problems.

Change password

You can update your password in My Account and the AGL app. For tips on creating a strong password and keeping it safe, visit Password security

  1. In the AGL App Account tab, tap Settings.

  2. Tap Profile Details, then Update Password.

  3. Enter your new password and tap Update Password.

  1. In My Account select your name in the top right corner, then Profile.

  2. Under Personal Details, find Password and select Edit.

  3. Enter your new password and select Update Password.

Update sign-in email address

  1. In the AGL App Account tab, select Settings.

  2. Select Profile Details, then Update Email.

  3. Enter your new email address and select Send Code.

  4. A one-time code will be sent to your new email address.

  5. Enter the code and select Save.

  1. In My Account select your name in the top right corner, then Profile

  2. Under Personal Details, find Email then select Edit.

  3. Enter your new email address and select Send code.

  4. A one-time code will be sent to your new email address.

  5. Enter the code and select Save.

Error message when updating details

If you get an error message when updating your email, mobile or changing a password, make a note of the error message and get in touch with us.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

For your online security, all AGL accounts now use 2FA when signing in online. That means you’ll need to enter a 6-digit verification code sent to your mobile or authenticator app. This is so we can make sure it’s really you signing in. Learn more about 2FA.

  • Every time you sign in, you’ll be prompted to enter a 6-digit code sent to your mobile number, even if you previously had it sent to your email.

  • If you don’t have a mobile number attached to your AGL account, you’ll have the option to add one during sign-in or use an authenticator app.

Set up 2FA with an authenticator app

  1. Make sure you have downloaded an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator).
  2. Go to the AGL sign-in page and enter your email and password.
  3. When asked to set up two-factor authentication select Use another method.
    (If you don’t see this option you need to contact us to continue.)
  4. A QR code will appear.

    • If you’re on a computer, scan the QR code with your phone.
    • If you’re on mobile, copy the key and paste it into your authenticator app.
  5. Your authenticator app will generate a code. Enter that code on the sign-in screen to finish setup.

Tip: The authenticator code refreshes every 30 seconds so make sure you enter the correct code. 

Set up a sign-in for multiple users

If you need more than one user to access the same account, you can do this securely by using an authenticator app.
