What does the AGL Energy app do?

If you're an AGL customer, you can:

  • Enter your own meter reads.~
  • View historical billing data.
  • Easily pay bills via PayPal or credit card.

If you also have a digital (or 'smart') electricity meter, you can:

  • View your daily and monthly usage.
  • Receive a projection of your next bill amount.
  • Set electricity usage alerts.

~Only available to customers without a remotely read smart meter.


How do I download and access the AGL Energy app?

You can download the app from the App Store or the Google Play store. Once downloaded, you will need to sign in to the app using your AGL account details.

If you haven't registered for My Account with AGL, you can easily do this with the AGL Energy App.


Has the app changed?

Yes, in October 2018 we released a new version of the AGL Energy app, with an improved look and feel. We've designed this version to be more intuitive, so you can access your important AGL account information more quickly and easily. We're continually making changes to the app to improve your experience. If you have any ideas or feedback, please share your thoughts on the AGL Community.  


Who can use the app?

The app is available to all AGL residential customers.

Some features may not be available to customers without a remotely read smart meter.

If you're an AGL residential customer, simply download the AGL Energy App and sign in using your My Account log in details.


If you don't have log in details for My Account you can register here.


If you don't have a digital meter at home, you might find that you don't have access to all of the features.


Which devices can carry the app?

The app is currently compatible on any Apple mobile device with iOS 7 or later as well as Android mobile devices with version 4.1 or later.


How is my projected electricity bill calculated?

If you have a remotely read smart electricity meter you may be able to view a projection* of your next bill.

Bill projection: We estimate this amount by multiplying your average daily use (for the billing period so far) by the total number of days in the period. It's intended only as an estimate - your final bill may be different.

Your bill projection amount includes any applicable Guaranteed or Double Up discounts, but excludes Pay on time and Direct Debit discounts. It includes supply and usage charges, but excludes fees and other charges such as Demand and Green charges. It doesn't include concessions, solar feed-in-tariffs, credits or other one-off benefits.

Cost so far: This figure is intended to give you some idea how much you've spent on energy up to this point in your current billing period. It may not reflect your actual AGL bill.

Your cost so far amount includes any applicable Guaranteed or Double Up discounts, but excludes Pay on time and Direct Debit discounts. It includes supply and usage charges, but excludes fees and other charges such as Demand and Green charges. It doesn't include concessions, solar feed-in-tariffs, credits, or other one-off benefits.

Download or view the projected bill details in My Account or the AGL Energy App.

*Projected bills are an estimate only. Actual bill may be different if your usage patterns change during the billing period. 


I've just had a digital meter installed. How long until I can see my usage data on the app?

You should be able to see your usage data appear in your AGL Energy app 10-15 days after your meter upgrade.

If, after 15 days since your digital meter was installed and you still aren't able to see daily usage and costs data, we'll need to look into this further for you. Within the app, please  complete the 'Feedback' form under the 'More' tab, and a member of our app support team be in touch with you soon.

Your usage data will be updated online every 2-3 days. In some cases, you may see estimated data if this information has not recently refreshed.


How does the AGL Energy App work with my digital meter?

A digital meter (otherwise known as a smart meter) has the ability to provide remote meter readings, which can remove the need for estimated bills and onsite meter reads.

With the AGL Energy App, you can access historical energy usage data by hour, day, week and month. Without a smart meter in your home or small business, the AGL Energy App will be missing some functionality, including current electricity usage, bill projections and usage alerts.


Can the app track my usage if I have solar?

The AGL Energy App does not currently display data relating to solar generation or energy fed back to the grid.

This may reduce the accuracy of electricity usage data and projected bill amounts in the AGL Energy App.
