AGL announced its partnership with the North Gippsland Football and Netball League (NGFNL) in 2016 and this year re-signed to partner with the league until 2026. AGL Loy Yang is in the centre of the NGFNL catchment area, and many of our employees and their families are involved in NGFNL clubs, making this the perfect partnership.
One of the many highlights of our partnership with the NGFNL is the local Pride Cup. AGL understands how critical it is to be leader in promoting diversity and inclusion within business and the community. This year AGL Loy Yang supported the league to hold two additional partnership events, a Mental Health Round and Indigenous Round.
The aim of the Mental Health Round is to raise awareness of importance of mental health and the impacts it can have on communities. AGL Loy Yang has also supported Mindful Aus to deliver mental health sessions within all 11 clubs, as well as training two members from each club in mental health first aid.
AGL supported the NGFNL to promote an Indigenous Round during NAIDOC week, with a smoking ceremonies & Welcome to Country at each home team ground. Encouraging learning, awareness, and knowledge of Aboriginal culture within our local community.
The AGL Loy Yang Traralgon Tennis International is one of the largest events on the Latrobe Valley’s sporting calendar. It is considered a lead-up event to the Australian Open’s Junior Championships and serves as a qualifying tournament for players to become eligible for a Grand Slam.
AGL Loy Yang has sponsored the Traralgon Tennis International for over 30 years.
AGL Loy Yang has partnered with Latrobe City Council since 2019 to bring together the Morwell International Rose Garden Festival, held in November. The festival is held over two days and encompasses a Midsummer Night Light Show, which was powered by AGL Loy Yang.

As one of the region’s largest economic drivers and energy providers, AGL Loy Yang has an obligation to frequently engage with key local stakeholders. These stakeholders may include Federal and State Members of Parliament, the Latrobe City Council, relevant Government Department personnel, media as well as key community groups.

The ERC which includes community and regulator representatives, meets quarterly to evaluate AGL Loy Yang’s environmental performance.
Following the group’s interest in community matters, a Community Dialogue Group was set up in 2018 to engage with a larger group of stakeholder and interest groups on Loy Yang operations.
