Make a difference. Go carbon neutral.

Get involved today

We hear you loud and clear, Australia - a sustainable future matters to you.

That’s why carbon neutral options are now available across all our products - including Climate Active certified electricity, gas, mobile, internet, residential solar and battery products. So you can enjoy your products knowing they support a more sustainable future.

What does carbon neutral mean?

It means the greenhouse gas emissions associated with an activity like generating power are reduced or offset to a total of zero. For a product to be considered carbon neutral, action must be taken to reduce and offset the emissions associated with supplying it to you.

How is it achieved?

A common way is through carbon offsetting, which is when organisations buy and retire carbon offsets (sometimes called a ‘carbon credit’) to compensate for the emissions they produce. These offsets are created from initiatives that prevent, reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere.

How does it work?

Carbon emissions associated with our products are offset by projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gases.

Use your products.

The supply and, in some cases, use of your products creates carbon emissions, which affect climate change. We’ll calculate the emissions associated with your mobile, internet, gas, electricity or new energy products.

We offset these emissions.

We buy carbon credits from accredited projects to offset these emissions.

Together, we make a difference.

We choose offset projects from Australia and around the world that deliver real benefits for the planet. So you know your small change is making a big impact.

Carbon offsetting.

Carbon emissions from our products are offset by projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gases.

Your products are supplied in different ways, some generating more carbon emissions than others.

We purchase carbon credits to offset eligible products we offer, supporting projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gases.

What is Climate Active certification?

Climate Active is an Australian network of individuals, businesses and organisations that aims to empower Australians to take climate action now and for the future. The Climate Active network is comprised of certified members across a wide range of industries. This Australian government-backed program enables all levels of Australian society to work together to protect the environment.

Carbon Neutral certified by Climate Active, is available on our electricity, gas, mobile, internet, solar and battery products.

Projects already making a difference.

Our support of carbon offset projects is already seeing progress towards a better tomorrow. Initiatives like the Westmere Regeneration Project, help regenerate Australian land that has been cleared of vegetation by removing livestock and non-native plants.

Keep up with projects we’re investing in at AGL Discover.

Let’s look forward to tomorrow.

We’ve been making some of the biggest investments in renewables across Australia, including in local wind, solar farms and battery technology.

We know Australians care about a sustainable future – and so do we.
