Using the AGL app

How to view bills, make payments, view and compare your electricity usage, submit a gas meter read and more with the AGL app.

Download and log in

The AGL app is available for all customers to download on a compatible device.

 

When you’ve downloaded the app, use your AGL online account details to log in. If you do not have one, it’s easy to register for an AGL online account.

Billing and payments

Download PDFs of your latest and past bills, easily make payments and get bill projections to help you budget.

  1. Open the AGL app and select the Billing tab. Latest bills are at the top of the screen.
  2. Select a bill.
  3. Scroll down and select View PDF.
    1. On iOS select the download button.
    2. On Android select File and then Print. Select the dropdown menu and then Save as PDF.

  3. Select a bill.
  4. Scroll down and select View PDF.
    1. On iOS select the download button.
    2. On Android select File and then Print. Select the dropdown menu and then Save as PDF.

Make payments for electricity, gas, internet and mobile.

  1. Open the AGL app and select the Billing tab.
  2. Select the bill you want to pay, then Make a payment.
  3. Make sure the correct payment method is showing, then select Pay now.

For instructions on adding a payment method or setting up direct debit, go to Update payment and credit card details.

We provide a projection for both electricity and gas bills to help with budgeting. This is an estimated total of what your bill will be at the end of your billing cycle.

To view your bill projection in the AGL app, go to the Overview tab. Under your Electricity or Gas overview for the billing cycle you’ll find your Bill projection.

View energy usage and insights

If you have a smart meter, you can view your electricity usage by month, day and hour with the AGL app. Plus, look for usage patterns and your average usage over time to find opportunities to save.

  1. In the Overview tab of the AGL app, select Electricity to view your usage for this billing cycle.
  2. Select anywhere in the blue usage graph to view Daily usage.
  3. Select a day to view Hourly usage.

When viewing your daily and hourly usage, you can switch between viewing usage in cost or kilowatt hours (kWh), by selecting $ or kWh at the bottom of the screen.

If you’re a solar customer, you'll also see how much you’ve sold to the grid for each billing cycle, day or hour you browse.

  1. In the Overview tab of the AGL app, select Electricity.
  2. Select Past usage to view usage by past billing period.
  3. Select anywhere in a usage graph to view Daily usage for that billing period.
  4. Select a day to view Hourly usage.

When viewing your daily and hourly usage, you can switch between viewing usage in cost or kilowatt hours (kWh), by selecting $ or kWh at the bottom of the screen.

If you’re a solar customer, you'll also see how much you’ve sold to the grid each billing period, day or hour you browse.

  1. In the Overview tab of the AGL app, select Electricity.
  2. Select Insights.
  3. Select Last 12 months or Monthly to compare your usage over that time.
  4. Select individual months or weeks to view your usage in cost and kWh for those periods.

At the bottom of the screen, find your average usage for the period you select.

If you’re a solar customer, Insights will show how much you’ve bought and sold to the grid over the time you select, and how much you’ve bought or sold on average.

Submit a self-service meter read

  1. In the Overview tab of the AGL app, select Electricity or Gas.
  2. Select Send a meter read.
  3. Enter your meter reading, including any zeroes before the numbers.
  4. Select Send this reading to finish submitting your meter read.

If you enter an incorrect read, we may ask you to send us a photo for verification. To send us a photo, select the message icon in the top right of your app screen and start messaging with a team member.

Solar and battery

You’ll find your solar status in the Overview screen of the app. We monitor your solar system’s performance to notify you as soon as possible of any issues that could reduce your energy generation and savings

If you have an Amber or Red solar status, it’s important to troubleshoot solar system issues with a Solar Health Check

  1. In the Overview tab of the AGL app, select Solar status
  2. Select Begin solar health check and follow the prompts

  • how your solar status is calculated
  • what triggers each status (green, red, amber and unavailable).

 

If you have a battery, the AGL app gives you a comprehensive view of how your battery and solar are contributing to your household’s energy use and savings. In the Overview tab of the AGL app, select Battery Charging to find information on:

  • your savings from battery and solar
  • your battery’s charge over the day (and participation in the Virtual Power Plant, if you’re part of this program)
  • how much of each electricity source (solar, battery or the grid) is powering your home
  • your energy system’s performance.

 

Internet and mobile

  1. In the Overview screen of the AGL app, scroll down and select NBNTM.
  2. Select Check your NBNTM speed.
  3. Select Start to begin your speed test.

Note: You can check the speed of any internet connection, not just your home internet. Make sure you’re connected to the connection you want to check before starting your speed test.

In the AGL app scroll down and select Mobile to view:

  • your data allowance
  • what you’ve used so far
  • your remaining data
  • days left.

 

Personalise settings

Get notifications on bill reminders, changes to your solar panel status and more.

  1. Open the AGL app and select the Account tab.
  2. Select Notifications.
  3. Turn on the notifications you want to receive.

Note: Make sure notifications are also turned on in your device settings.

 

Firstly, make sure VoiceOver is enabled:

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings.
  2. Select Accessibility.
  3. Select VoiceOver and turn this setting on.
  4. Go to an AGL screen with a graph to hear an audio description.

 

Contact AGL through the app

In the Overview tab, select the blue and white message icon in the top right corner. Our Virtual Assistant will provide support and connect you to a human if needed.

Contacting us through the app is quick and easy. It also means we already have your account details when you start messaging, and can get straight into providing the right support.
