Automatically pay your bills from a nominated savings, cheque or credit card account.

To set up Direct Debit in My Account:

  1. From the 'Overview' select your name in the top right corner, then 'Account Settings'
  2. On the payment options tile select 'Edit' on 'Direct Debit' and follow the prompts

To set up direct debit in the AGL app:

  1. Tap on the 'Account' tab, then 'Settings'
  2. Tap 'Direct Debit' and follow the prompts.

Use BPAY through your financial institution to pay your bill with a credit card or bank account.

When paying via BPAY, you'll need a Biller Code and a reference number.

The Biller Code is provided by AGL and depends on your account particulars. Your Biller Code can be found on your most recent bill, on the bottom of the front page.

We've partnered with PayPal to offer our customers the option to pay energy bills. Log in to pay your bills using the details stored in your PayPal account.

  • There are no fees to use PayPal
  • PayPal securely stores your financial information and does not share it
  • Your PayPal wallet can store a variety of funding sources, including PayPal balance, bank accounts, and credit cards including American Express

Direct Debit via PayPal is also available if you'd like the convenience of Direct Debit and the comfort of having payments automatically deducted via PayPal’s secure payment platform.

To sign up to Direct Debit via PayPal, you must have a PayPal account and My Account. Sign up to Direct Debit via PayPal by logging into My Account.

  1. Select 'Make a Payment' on the bill you want to pay
  2. Confirm your payment amount and select 'Later' under 'Payment Date'
  3. Select your preferred payment date from the calendar
  4. Confirm your preferred payment method.

Other payment options

With SMS Pay, we send you a text a few days before your bill is due. Reply ‘Pay’ to have it automatically deducted from your bank account or credit card.

Your bills will still be delivered to you as per your current arrangement. Bills are typically generated before payment is due, which means you'll have plenty of time to review the bill before you get the SMS. Here's what to expect with SMS pay:

  • Set up SMS Pay in My Account. You'll need to save a valid payment method (a bank account or credit card) and have a valid mobile number.
  • You'll receive a welcome SMS from us. All subsequent messages from our SMS Pay service will be sent from the same mobile number.
  • When you make a payment, you'll get a response from us, confirming that we've received a valid 'Pay' authorisation.
  • Payments will be displayed on invoices and will appear in My Account. No receipts will be sent.

Get SMS Pay

Use Centrepay to make regular deductions from your Centrelink payments. Centrepay is a voluntary payment option available to Centrelink customers.

You can pay your AGL bill in person at any Post Office or, for more options, visit the Post Billpay® website.

A $3.20 over the counter fee may apply when paying in person at Australia Post.

A 0.49% fee may apply for paying by debit card or credit card with Post Billpay.
