Billing options

Learn about our electricity and gas monthly billing options and how to receive bills via email.

eBilling

With eBilling, you get your bills via email instead of by post. eBilling helps you cut down your paper usage and avoid a $1.75 paper bill fee (GST incl.) if applicable.

What to expect in an eBill

eBills contain the same information as paper bills. Your eBill shows the main bill details (payment amount, due date, payment methods) along with a link to download a PDF of your detailed bill. You’ll still get the same messages you’d receive in a paper bill.

Manage eBilling

  1. Log in to My Account.
  2. From the Overview tab, select your name in the top right corner, then Account Settings.
  3. Select Billing and Payments.
  4. Scroll down to the Bill notifications option, and switch eBilling on or off.

We'll send your eBills to the email on your account. You can check that your email address is correct in My Account on Update my details.

If you swapped to eBilling but still get paper bills, log in to My Account to check:

View and download bills online

To view and download your latest bill in My Account, go to the Billing tab and select Download your PDF bill. Previous bills are also available for download.

To view and download bills in the AGL app, go to the Billing tab, select a bill, then View PDF.

Monthly billing

With monthly electricity and gas billing, you’ll get smaller bills more often with easier-to-manage payments. Simply select the time of month you’d like to get your bill to make budgeting easier. There’s no extra cost for monthly billing.

Set up monthly billing

  1. Log in to My Account:
  2. Select your name in the top right corner, then Account Settings.
  3. In the Billing and payments menu, go to Monthly billing and select Edit.
  4. Select your account, then choose your preferred bill issue date.
  5. Select Switch to monthly billing to finish.

How we calculate monthly billing

If you’re on a smart electricity meter, we use real usage data to work out your monthly bill. We’ll only estimate bills if there are issues sending or receiving data from your meter, but this is uncommon.

If you have a basic electricity or gas meter that's only read every two to three months, we won’t have access to actual data for all your monthly bills. We estimate your bills based on things like your past usage and seasonal activity, then adjust your account when we receive an actual reading.

Manage monthly billing

To change the date we issue your bill:

  1. Log in to My Account:
  2. Select your name in the top right corner, then Account Settings.
  3. In the Billing and payments menu, go to Monthly billing and select Edit.
  4. Next to your monthly billing service, select Change.
  5. Select your preferred date then Change to complete.

You can set up monthly billing with any payment arrangements you already have such as direct debit or bill smoothing.

You can change to 3-monthly billing at any time. You may have been put on monthly billing as we’ve been automatically rolling it out to make managing your bills easier.

  1. Log in to My Account.
  2. Select your name in the top right corner, then Account Settings.
  3. In the Billing and payments menu, go to Monthly billing and select Edit.
  4. Next to your monthly billing service, select Cancel.

Make a payment
