No. Your organisation still receives the same reliable grid electricity.
When your organisation uses electricity, we buy GreenPower accredited renewable electricity certificates according to your nominated Green Energy percentage. To ensure we purchase and surrender the correct number of renewable electricity certificates, we undergo an independent audit annually.
Green Energy can give you confidence that your choice makes a real difference because:
- renewable electricity is generated from accredited Australian projects that meet strict government standards
- all Green Energy sales are independently audited to ensure your electricity use is matched with renewable electricity.
Carbon offsets allow businesses to offset their emissions by purchasing carbon credits to fund projects that avoid, reduce or remove emissions from the atmosphere. These projects can be based overseas.
GreenPower accredited products ensure your electricity use is matched with renewable energy generated by Australian projects.
A Large-scale Generation Gertificate (LGC) is created for every 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable electricity generated by an eligible power station.
When you choose Green Energy, we buy and voluntarily surrender LGCs on your behalf, which supports demand for renewable electricity generation n Australia. This goes beyond the mandatory compliance requirements under the Commonwealth Government's Renewable Energy Target.
