Learn more about our best energy offer, exclusively for AGL employees.

VIP status explained

AGL employees receive a great deal specific to the market in their state. Rates may differ based on the state and distribution region.

Billing requirements include:

  • direct debit payments for all customers
  • eBilling for all customers

Eligible AGL employees can sign up for a maximum of two residential supply addresses (incl. your home and up to one holiday house) to this plan. You must be:

  • One of the following eligible AGL employees

a. A permanent full or part time AGL employee
b. A fixed-term AGL employee
c. A casual AGL employee who has been employed by AGL on a regular and systematic basis for a sequence of periods during the previous 12 months.

  • The energy account holder for each property that is registered for this offer.

The following customers aren’t eligible:

  • Independent contractorsSecondees from external organisations
  • Any other individual who is not directly employed by an AGL Group company, even if they have an A number (as stated in our Employee Plan Policy)
  • Customers in areas where AGL chooses not to, or is unable to supply gas and/or electricity (e.g. ACT) and customers in a Queensland ERGON area.

For employees who aren’t eligible, you can find details on the AGL VIP Family and Friends offer.

This offer is only for AGL electricity and gas services where available. It can’t be applied to other AGL products and services, such as:

  • connections or hot water services
  • bulk hot water
  • solar PVs
  • purchases of physical devices.

Details for our employee internet and mobile plans can be found on the AGL Employee Store.

The employee discount can only be applied where the account holder is an AGL employee. You’ll need to transfer the name of the account to yourself as the first step to apply for the discount. You can change the account to your name by contacting our team on 1300 556 245.

Eligible AGL employees can have up to two properties (your home and up to one holiday house) provided the properties meet the eligibility criteria. You must be the energy account holder for each property registered for this offer and confirm that you’re responsible for energy arrangements at each property.

If you’re an eligible AGL employee moving house, you’ll get the employee offer at your new property. Keep in mind that the applicable electricity or gas rates may vary depending on the location of your new home.

You can choose to have electricity, gas (if this is available to you), or both – whatever suits your needs as a customer.

The standard customer transfer times will apply to employees who become AGL customers. This depends on when your meter reading happens, but it can usually be one to two billing cycles. Your billing will commence once we receive your meter data from the network.

You must be a continuing AGL employee to have access to this offer. If you leave AGL, you’ll no longer be eligible and your energy plan will be moved to our standard retail contract unless you select another market offer. You will still have access to the AGL VIP Family and Friends offer.

Customers who remain on the original AGL Employee plan available prior to December 2018 will continue to be eligible after their employment ends.

You will have the option to stay on your present offer, or alternatively opt-in to the new offer. If you switch to the new employee plan, you won’t be able to go back to your old plan.

Contractors are invited to take advantage of our VIP Family and Friends offer and aren’t eligible for the employee plan.

Unfortunately, this plan is only available to properties that AGL can supply to. This offer isn’t available for bulk hot water or embedded networks.
