Using your smart meter data and clever algorithms, Energy Insights breaks down your electricity usage to estimate how much electricity your home uses on heating, cooling, lighting, laundry, standby and more.
The result? Greater visibility of your home’s electricity usage. Energy Insights helps you to take control of your electricity costs and find out where you could start making savings.
The service is free and available now to AGL electricity customers in Victoria.
Can I get AGL Energy Insights for my home?
If you’re living in Victoria, you’re with AGL for your home's electricity and you don’t have solar, Energy Insights will be automatically provided to you - no registration necessary. You just need:
- A smart meter installed
- To be registered for eBilling, which you can do via My Account.
AGL Energy Insights should also become available to our smart meter customers living in NSW, SA and QLD by late 2018. Unfortunately, AGL Energy Insights isn’t available to AGL gas customers.
How do you estimate my home’s electricity usage by appliance category?
We generate an estimated break down of electricity usage by appliance category using:
Data from your smart meter
Details shared in your Home Profile (if you complete one)
Local weather information and other data sources
What should I expect and when?
You'll receive your insights a few days after each electricity bill has been issued as long as AGL Energy Insights is available to you and you’re registered for eBilling. See a sample report below. You'll also receive personalised tips to help you reduce energy waste and save money.

Find an AGL Energy Plan that best suits your home. If you are eligible, you'll start receiving Insights Reports after about 6 months. You might receive a simplified version sooner.
