Secondary settlement point (SSP)

Separate metering for solar panels, batteries and EV chargers. Available to eligible commercial and industrial AGL customers.

What is a Secondary Settlement Point (SSP)

An SSP is an additional meter point on your property that separately measures electricity used or generated by specific equipment, such as solar panels, battery storage systems or EV chargers.

It is part of an industry-wide regulatory initiative designed to support more tailored electricity measurement.

Why consider an SSP?

Activating an SSP may provide greater flexibility in how eligible energy products such as solar panels, battery storage systems or EV chargers are measured, managed and billed.

The availability of these benefits will depend on the retailer and the energy products available in your area.

Who is eligible for an SSP service at AGL?

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a commercial or industrial customer at a site that exceeds the minimum annual electricity usage threshold.
  • have approved equipment, such as solar panels, a battery storage system or an EV charger, that can be connected to the SSP service.
  • meet the market and metering requirements set by industry standard by Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).
  • have any required meter upgrades or installations completed or approved by an accredited Metering Coordinator.
  • have your SSP service registered with its own virtual National Metering Indentifier (NMI).

Please note: Our SSP services are not available for residential customers or small to medium businesses at the moment.
