AGL welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback to the NSW Government’s proposed policy reforms to the Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) and Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS), outlined in the Energy Security Safeguard: Policy reform consultation paper.
AGL recognises the important role of both the ESS and PDRS in achieving the Energy Security Safeguard objectives. The schemes are vital in delivering a reliable, affordable and lower emissions energy system, and should continue evolving to support the energy transition.
Some of the key points covered in our submission include: the importance of supporting electrification within the schemes; the need for strong consumer protections, product standards, enhanced accessibility and equity measures; and the increasing importance of policy alignment across jurisdictions as multiple schemes emerge.
