AGL welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback to the NSW Government’s proposed changes to the Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) and Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS), outlined in the Energy Security Safeguard: Rule change consultation paper.
AGL recognises the important role of both the ESS and PDRS in achieving the Energy Security Safeguard objectives. The schemes are vital in delivering a reliable, affordable and lower emissions energy system, and should continue evolving to support the energy transition.
Some of the key points covered in our submission include: support for expanding battery and VPP incentives under the PDRS; harmonisation of NSW incentives with other schemes; support for extending incentives to larger batteries; support for upfront deeming and simplified processes; and we express caution for proposed smart charging and V2G incentives.
