Background
Wattle Point was built in 2005 at a cost of $180 million and was Australia’s largest wind farm at the time. The wind farm includes 55 turbines and has a total capacity of 91 megawatts.
Wattle Point Wind Farm is located 3 kilometres southwest of Edithburgh on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. The site covers a total area of 17.5 km2.
Anyone can visit the wind farm’s viewing area on Sheoak Beach Road. Entry is free.
Community fund
AGL is committed to making a positive and lasting contribution to the Yorke Peninsula and the communities where we operate.
As a major employer and investor in the region, AGL works in partnership with Yorke Peninsula Council to deliver a fair and transparent Community Fund.
The AGL Wattle Point Wind Farm Community Fund supports community-led projects and initiatives in areas surrounding the wind farm. Applications open once each year and are available to eligible local groups and organisations. This is delivered in partnership with the Yorke Peninsula Council.
