Proposed expansion of the Kwinana Swift Power Station
Western Energy Pty Ltd (a subsidiary of AGL Energy) is proposing an expansion of the existing Kwinana Swift Power Station by constructing and operating an additional dual fuel power station of 250 megawatts (MW). The proposal is located adjacent to Kwinana Swift Power Station at 1 Burton Place, Kwinana Beach, WA.
About the project
The proposal is for the expansion of the operating Kwinana Swift Power Station, to increase the site’s overall nominal generation capacity. The proposal involves the construction, installation and operation of four open cycle gas turbines with a combined nominal capacity of 250 MW. The project is intended to operate as a gas-fired peaking power station, supplying electricity to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) network.
This project is likely to support up to 250 jobs at the peak of construction.
