AGL in the Latrobe Valley

Community

We’re proud to be a major economic contributor in the Latrobe Valley region of Victoria.

The Latrobe Valley Region

The Latrobe Valley region has been a proud mining, electricity generation and industrial powerhouse for many years.

AGL Loy Yang is committed to supporting the local Latrobe Valley region – from being a major employer in the Latrobe Valley to backing local initiatives and events through the Community Fund and Partnerships Program.

Community Partnerships Program

At AGL Loy Yang, we’re committed to supporting the communities where we live and work. Through our Community Partnerships Program, we collaborate with local organisations to drive positive change across Gippsland.

Our key partners include:

  • North Gippsland Football Netball League (NGFNL) – Supporting grassroots sport and inclusion initiatives like the AGL Loy Yang Pride Cup, Mental Health Round and NAIDOC Week Round.

  • Traralgon Tennis Association – Proud partner of the AGL Loy Yang Traralgon International for over 30 years, one of the world’s leading junior tournaments.

  • Mindfull Aus – Delivering mental health programs that support young people, families, and local workplaces.

  • The Little Village Project – Supporting vulnerable children in local primary schools to improve educational outcomes.

  • International Rose Garden Festival Morwell – Helping celebrate our region’s vibrant culture and community spirit.

AGL Loy Yang Community Fund

Twice a year, in March and September, AGL Loy Yang invites community groups and organisations to apply for support through the Community Fund Program.

If your organisation needs support for upcoming activities or events that align with our Community Fund Program Guidelines, we encourage you to submit an application.

The program reinvests part of the site’s revenue back into the Latrobe City region, supporting local projects, events and initiatives that benefit the broader community.

The program is open to community groups and organisations in and around the Latrobe City region, and aims to have lasting benefits to the communities that we operate in. Our goal is to create positive social, environmental and economic outcomes as our business grows.

Apprenticeships and Career Opportunities

Hundreds of young people in the Latrobe Valley have started their careers with us. An apprenticeship at Loy Yang A Power Station can open the door to employment opportunities in the Latrobe Valley and beyond.

Our 2026 Apprenticeship Program will open for applications later this year.

Local career opportunities

Keep an eye out for opportunities that become available across our Loy Yang A  and integrated energy hub.
