AGL responds to the AEMC’s ‘Changes to energy retail contracts’ rule change

The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) is consulting on a number of customer-focussed energy retail rule changes in response a request from the Hon. Chris Bowen MP, Minister for Climate Change and Energy, as Chair of the Energy and Climate Change Ministerial Council (ECMC).

This suite of prospective reforms addresses:

• Preventing price increases for a fixed period under market retail contracts;
• Removing fees and charges;
• Removing unreasonable conditional discounts; and
• Ensuring energy plan benefits last the length of the contract
