AGL Identity Verification Privacy Collection Notice

We (AGL) may need to verify your identity when you acquire a product or service from us, set up a new AGL account, change AGL energy or telecommunications plans or access your AGL account. To verify your identity, we will request information from you, including your:

  • full name;
  • date of birth;
  • identity document type (such as Drivers Licence, Medicare Card or Passport);
  • identity document state or country of issue;
  • identity document number(s); and
  • identity document expiry date.  

By providing this information, you confirm that you are authorised to provide these details for the purpose of verifying your identity. 

We will share this information with the document issuer via the Australian Government’s Document Verification Service, to match the information with official record data and to generate an information match result. Our use of the Document Verification Service may involve the use of third-party systems and services (such as the document issuer and approved gateway service providers) some of which may be located overseas. 

If you do not provide this information, we may be unable to confirm your identity and may not be able to offer you your chosen AGL product or service, set up your AGL account or give you access to your existing AGL account.

We collect, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
