The Peak Demand Reduction Scheme

Claiming the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS)

You may be eligible for an extra incentive when you connect your battery to our Virtual Power Plant (VPP). It’s easy to claim with us – we take care of the application for you.

The Peak Demand Reduction Scheme for VPPs

If you’re eligible, we provide a once-off bill credit for connecting your battery to our VPP, thanks to a New South Wales Government incentive called the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme. We apply the credit to one of your next bills after connecting to our VPP.

How we calculate your PDRS credit

The once-off credit is made up of roughly $40 for every kilowatt hour (kWh) of your battery’s storage capacity. The credit is capped at a storage capacity of 28 kWh – this applies whether you have one or multiple batteries.

How much you’ll receive based on your battery

The table below gives an example of what you can receive based on battery model and capacity. We’ve rounded the bill credits to a multiple of $40 so the amount you receive may be slightly more.

Bill credits based on battery capacity and battery type
Battery brand Battery name Battery capacity Bill credit
LG RESU 16H 16 kWh $650
SolarEdge Home Battery 10 kWh $410
Tesla Powerwall 3 13.5 kWh $550

Example of multiple batteries

If you have two Tesla Powerwall 3 batteries with a combined capacity of 27 kWh, you’d receive a credit of $1,100.

It’s based on $550 x 2 = $1,100.
