What is the AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan offer?
The new Employee Rate Energy Plan is a two year residential plan with low rates, exclusive to eligible AGL employees.
Does the offer vary slightly in some states?

The AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan is designed to ensure AGL employees are, to the specific nature of the energy market in each State treated fairly. Rates will differ based on State and distribution region and employees should consider the rates for their address and tariff type.

What is the 'reference price'?

It's a benchmark electricity price set by the government. It makes it easier to compare electricity prices between different energy retailers.

Different parts of Australia have a different reference price. This is because energy usage and distribution costs vary across the country.

The reference price for each area will also differ depending on your tariff type.

How will I know if I should be on the new plan?

For most employees, the new AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan will be a lower cost plan than the previous employee offer. However, for some employees with usage that differs to the average customer, the previous offer may be a lower cost option. Employees should consider their own circumstances when considering whether to switch plans.

A comparison tool will be made available prior to end August 2019.

The new employee offer is also a 24 month, variable rate plan. Following the 24 month energy plan period, eligible employees will either continue on the same energy plan for a further energy plan period, or be automatically moved to the new employee offer applicable at that time. In contrast, the former Employee Offer applies for the duration of eligible employees’ employment at AGL.

Who is eligible for the AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan?

Current AGL employees who meet the following criteria are eligible to sign up a maximum of two (2) residential supply addresses (your home & up to 1 holiday house) to the AGL Employee Freedom Plan for gas and electricity:

a) permanent full or part time AGL employees; or
b) fixed term AGL employees; or
c) 
casual AGL employees who have been employed by AGL on a regular and systematic basis for a sequence of periods during the previous twelve months.

You must be the energy account holder for each property that is registered for this offer.

Who is not eligible for the offer?

Independent contractors, secondees from external organisations and any other individual who is not directly employed by an AGL Group company are not eligible for this offer, even if they have an A number (as stated in our Employee Plan Policy). Customers in areas where AGL chooses not to, or is unable to supply gas and/or electricity (e.g. ACT) and customers in a Queensland ERGON area are not eligible for this offer.

What is the product I will receive under this offer?

This offer is for an AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan with a 24 month energy plan period. Following the 24 month energy plan period, eligible employees will either continue on the same energy plan for a further energy plan period, or be automatically moved to the new employee offer applicable at that time.

Should your employment at AGL end for any reason, your Employee energy plan will be cancelled, and you will be moved to a Standard Retail Contract if you do not choose an alternative market offer.

Why does the new employee plan have a 24 month energy plan period?

While the benefits under the new employee plan will apply initially for a two year period, we will continuously review the employee offer to ensure it remains our best in market plan. If there are no changes to the employee offer, we will automatically roll over eligible employees’ plans for a further 24 months. If changes are required (as the market and regulations move) we will notify employees of any changes to the applicable benefits under their plan and how these compare.

How do I apply for the offer?

Eligible employees can sign up any time at www.agl.com.au/employeeplan. Alternatively, please contact our Customer Services Team on 1300 556 245 any time.

You must be the energy account holder and confirm that you are responsible for energy arrangements at the property the offer is being applied to.

I am a current customer with AGL, how do I change to the new offer?

This can be done by visiting www.agl.com.au/employeeplan or by calling our Customer Services Team any time on 1300 556 245.

Does this offer include green or demand charges?

Customers on a demand tariff or who have signed up to AGL Future Forests or AGL GreenChoice are eligible for the AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan. Employees should refer to the offer details to view the applicable green or demand charges.

How long do I need to be employed by AGL to receive the new AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan?

If you are a permanent full or part-time employee, or are employed on a fixed term basis, you can access this discount as soon as you join AGL. If you are a casual employee, you will be able to access the discount when you have worked with AGL consecutively for twelve months.

Can this offer be applied to other AGL services?

No, this offer cannot be applied to other AGL services such as connections or hot water services, bulk hot water, solar PVs or purchases of physical devices.

Will this offer apply if I am late paying my AGL energy bills?

Yes. AGL ‘Pay-on-Time’ conditions do not apply to this offer.

I'm not the account holder in my household but we are customers of AGL. Can we apply for the offer?

The employee discount can only be applied where the account holder is an AGL employee. You will need to transfer the name of the account to yourself as the first step to apply for the discount. You can change the account to your name by contacting an AGL Contact Centre on 1300 556 245.

I have more than 1 energy account with AGL, are my other properties eligible for the employee offer?

Up to two (2) properties (your home & up to 1 holiday house) will be eligible for this offer per employee provided the properties meet the eligibility criteria. You must be the energy account holder for each property registered for this offer and confirm that you are responsible for energy arrangements at each property.

What happens if I move house?

If you are moving house and are still an eligible AGL employee, you will be able to take up the new employee offer at your new property. Keep in mind that the applicable electricity or gas rates may vary depending on the location of your new home. If you are no longer an employee when you move house, you will no longer be eligible for the AGL Employee offer, including at any new premises.

Do I need to have both my gas and electricity with AGL to qualify for the offer?

No. You can choose to have electricity, gas (if this is available to you), or both – whatever suits your needs as a customer. Of course, we hope that you will choose to have all your energy with AGL via this highly competitive offer.

How long will it take for me to become an AGL customer?

The standard customer transfer times will apply to employees who become AGL customers. How long this takes usually depends on when your meter reading occurs but it can usually be 1 to 2 billing cycles. Once we receive your meter data from your host network your billing will commence with AGL.

Why do I need to provide my employee A number to sign up?

Your employee 'A number' is the unique code that we use to ensure only eligible employees take up this offer as per the eligibility rules. This allows us to ensure we only have employees on this offer and can maintain an optimum experience for this very important group of customers, you, our staff.

Will I still be eligible for the AGL Employee Rate Plan if I leave AGL?

You must be a continuing AGL employee to have access to the AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan. If you leave AGL you will no longer be eligible for this employee offer and your energy plan will be cancelled. If you do not choose an alternative market offer, you will be moved to AGL’s standard retail contract. If you do choose to leave AGL, you will have access to the AGL VIP Family and Friends offer.

Customers who remain on the original AGL Employee plan available prior to December 2018 will continue to be eligible after their employment ends. Customers on the AGL Employee Freedom Energy Plan and the new AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan will no longer be eligible for Employee Plans once they leave AGL.

Can I sign up to the AGL Employee Rate plan for my holiday house as well?

Provided you meet the criteria, you will be able to sign up a maximum of two (2) residential supply addresses (your home & up to 1 holiday house) to the AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan for gas and electricity.

I am already on the existing Employee Freedom Energy Plan (or the original AGL Employee plan available prior to December 2018) do I need to change to the new offer or will I be automatically switched over?

You will have the option to stay on your present offer, or alternatively opt-in to the new offer. If you switch to the new AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan offer, you will no longer be eligible for the previous AGL employee plans.

I am an AGL contractor, what offers are available to me?

Contractors are invited to take advantage of our soon to be released VIP Family and Friends Offer, forecast for end October 2019. This offer has also been impacted by the recent regulatory changes.

I live in an apartment, where the energy is managed through a metered network, can I access the offer?

Unfortunately, the AGL Employee Rate Plan is only available to properties that AGL can supply to. This offer is not available to Bulk Hot Water and Embedded Electricity Networks.

Does the VIP Friends and Family offer still exist? And if yes, what are the details?

Yes, however, this offer has also been impacted by the recent regulatory changes and is forecast for release in its reconstructed form October 2019.

Why don't we just transfer employees on the current plan to the new plan?

While we love our new AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan, we need to make sure our employees want to be on this new product and require their consent to move them across onto it. We have tried to make this process as simple as possible for you. The choice is yours.

How does the new AGL Employee offer differ from the former AGL Employee offer?

The new AGL Employee Rate Energy Plan is a two year plan with low, variable rates that are exclusive to eligible employees. In contrast, the AGL Employee Freedom Plan included a discount off usage charges, (excluding the Victorian electricity plan, which included a discount off usage and supply charges), and the original AGL Employee plan that was available prior to December 2018 included a lower discount off usage and supply charges.

The new employee plan is a two year plan that will apply while you continue to be employed at AGL. The former discounted employer offer applied for the duration of your employment at AGL. The AGL Employee Plan that was available prior to December 2018 would continue to apply, even after eligible customers ceased to be employed at AGL.
