Password security

Password security tips

A strong, unique password helps keep your information safe.

Create a strong password

  • Use at least 12 characters, even if fewer characters are required.
  • Use a combination of upper-case letters, numbers and special characters
  • Don’t use things other people might know, like your social media name, birthday or pet’s name.

Protect your password

Things to remember

  • Use a different password for each website you log in to.
  • Update your passwords regularly.
  • If someone else has gained access to one of your passwords, update it right away in your security settings.

What to avoid

  • Don't use the same password for different accounts.
  • Don't share your password with anyone. To give someone limited access to your account, make them an authorised contact person.
