Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES)
The SRES gives incentives for renewable energy installations like solar panels, solar batteries, solar water heaters and air-sourced heat pumps. The Government intends to expand SRES eligibility to include mid-scale solar installed from 1 October 2026.
Key eligibility (subject to SRES expansion)
- You’re installing an eligible solar photovoltaic (PV) system up to 1 megawatt after 1 October 2026.
- You own or control a suitable installation site.
- You use an accredited installer and components approved by the Clean Energy Council.
How to access it
You can either apply for the SRES yourself, or get a registered agent (generally the installer) to claim it for you as an upfront discount on your installation cost.
The SRES is expected to run until the end of 2030.

New South Wales: Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS)
The PDRS gives funding to activities that cut electricity use during summer afternoons or evenings. For example, installing energy-efficient appliances or shifting electricity use when there’s high demand.
Key eligibility
- Your site is in NSW and connected to the NSW electricity network.
- You’re installing eligible solar batteries, air conditioners or pool pumps, or you can shift your electricity use through a Virtual Power Plant.
- Your equipment or activity is through an accredited provider.
How to access it
When you upgrade equipment or take part in electricity shifting activity with an accredited installer or electricity retailer, you receive the funding as a discount from them.
The PDRS is expected to run until 2050.
