Supporting sustainable zoos
A visit to the zoo is no longer just about coming face to face with amazing animals. It’s an opportunity to demonstrate the valuable conservation work and sustainable practices many zoos undertake – something we're extremely proud to support.
Helping two of Adelaide Zoo’s most famous inhabitants, giant pandas Wang Wang and Fu Ni, live a comfortable life in one of the greenest enclosures in the southern hemisphere was one way we helped show our support.
With the World Wildlife Fund estimating that only 1,800 Giant Pandas are left in the wild, Wang Wang and Fu Ni are part of the international research, conservation and breeding program designed to preserve this vulnerable species.
Solar power installed above their enclosure helps ensure both pandas are kept comfortable and cool throughout the year. All in all, we’ve installed over 230kWH of solar panels across both Adelaide and Monarto Zoos to reduce emissions, helping to create a more sustainable future.
