How does hydro power work?
Hydro power uses the force of moving water to make electricity. AGL Hydro's generating schemes are located on different river catchments, where water is stored in dams and then released to flow through turbines. As the water moves through, it spins the turbines, which are connected to generators that produce electricity.
As an on-demand energy source, hydro power plays an important role in the energy transition by helping to stabilise the power grid when intermittent renewables, like wind and solar, aren’t generating electricity.
