An early riser with a passion for training

I’ve always been an early riser and when I pull into the carpark at AGL Torrens it’s only the lights I see. But despite the early start, I feel a sense of excitement as I have a deep sense of purpose for what I do.

I’ve been at AGL for three years and I’m very lucky to be able to combine my two favourite passions – providing training solutions at the highest standard and working in a business that’s committed to reducing its environmental impact. As we start to phase out coal and move towards renewables, I feel privileged to be part of this journey.

“My team is helping our people to prepare for the future, equipping them with the skills and capabilities they need to upskill and grow.”

Empowering our people to succeed

I work in the Training and Competency team, and with the planned closure of our Torrens B power station, my team is helping our people to prepare for the future. This means identifying development opportunities that will enable our workforce to upskill and expand their capabilities so they can continue working in energy, or other sectors.

We’re also investing in comprehensive training programs that focus on emerging technologies and future skills to ensure the transitioning energy sector is supported by a skilled workforce. As part of this commitment, Torrens recently hosted a dedicated people transition event – the first in a series aimed at helping our employees prepare for their future beyond the closure of the Torrens B Power Station.

A weekend culinary warrior

When I'm not running around organising training, you'll find me by the barbecue or in the kitchen cooking up a storm. Cooking is my favourite way to unwind and connect with friends and family.

I’m Cathy. And this is My Energy Story.
