I’m an Instrument and Controls Engineer at Bayswater Power Station

I’m responsible for managing the Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems in the flue gas exhaust – helping to manage our environmental impacts.

I also support our compliance with cyber security obligations, strengthening the resilience of our critical infrastructure.

My favourite part of working at AGL is the people

I’m surrounded by good natured and helpful colleagues; I appreciate the way we work together.

AGL also empowers me to manage my schedule in a way that suits my lifestyle. With a long commute to work each day, having the trust and autonomy to structure my day makes a big difference.

I landed my first role with an industrial automation company

This was challenging and specialised work.

After my role was made redundant, I took the opportunity broaden my base with further education and pursued a second degree in electrical engineering. That decision led me to AGL, and I’ve since built a rewarding career here.

As the energy landscape evolves, I’m focused on how best to adapt and face my future.

Power stations are complex and interesting, which make for a good challenge in the work environment
I never envisaged myself working at a power station, but now I’m here, I don't regret it.

There’s a strong sense of purpose and community. Additionally, I get a front-row seat to technological change in the power industry.

My energy career advice to women and girls

AGL offers plenty of training and development opportunities, but it’s up to you to say “yes” and invest in your growth. Don't limit yourself only to AGL's direct training, figure out what would best round you out professionally and ask for support. It’s worth the trouble.
