AGL is supporting regional businesses to drive the energy transition, working with independent heavy vehicle repairer Truck Tech Group on a new solar installation that is delivering cost and emission efficiencies.

AGL has installed a 98.4 kilowatt (kW) solar system featuring 240 solar panels across Truck Tech Group’s warehouses and commercial sites, with the total clean energy generated equivalent to powering 25 average Australian households each year.

AGL General Manager Commercial and Industrial, Ryan Warburton said AGL was proud to have helped Truck Tech Group reduce its operating costs and carbon footprint.

“Australia has the highest penetration of rooftop solar in the world and we’re excited to help regional businesses make the switch,” Mr Warburton said.

“Truck Tech are committed to creating more sustainable operations while also reducing energy costs and reliance on the grid.

“The solar panels will prevent around 110 tonnes of CO2e emissions each year, the equivalent to the exhaust emissions of 35 cars.

“As Australia’s largest commercial solar supplier, AGL is committed to driving Australia’s energy transition and helping businesses find sustainable and innovative energy solutions.

“Over the coming decade, we believe the acceleration of solar uptake will become an important part of Australia’s energy system and play a key role in the transition to a cleaner energy future.”

Truck Tech Group CEO, Barry Saad said Truck Tech Group was pleased to have found a partner in AGL who was at the forefront of the renewable energy transition.

“We’ve already seen a reduction in electricity costs since installing the solar panels, which has put us in good stead for our future business plans – we’re really pleased,” Mr Saad said.

“We knew solar energy would help us to save on costs and having the extra benefit of reducing our carbon footprint made the choice of switching to solar an easy one.”

Truck Tech Group Finance Advisor Andrew Macias said since switching to solar, the cost savings have given Truck Tech Group the opportunity to invest in future business development, essential to their growth.

“It was a tight turn around to install the panels but AGL was very easy to deal with. This speaks volumes to the people working at AGL,” Mr Macias said.

Located in Chipping Norton, Truck Tech Group is home to state-of-the-art workshops, consisting of 14 full-length work bays, two full-size under vehicle work pits, an in-house engine division and the latest vehicle servicing technology.
