AGL continues to simplify its energy offerings with the launch today of a new product that rewards residential customers in Victoria for paying for their electricity in advance.
Chief Customer Officer Melissa Reynolds said AGL Prepaid would allow customers to have more control over their electricity payments.
“We’ve developed a product that allows customers to prepay amounts that suit them, when it suits them,” she said.
“Customers have told us they were looking for a product like this because they are already making payments regularly or intermittently prior to the due date to reduce the amount they have to pay when the bill is due.
“Feedback from some customers indicated they like to make pre-payments because it helps them save money, control when and how much they pay, and minimises the risk of surprises when bills arrive, all of which gives them peace of mind.
“Customers on this plan will be rewarded with a bonus credit for every eligible prepayment of more than $50, until a cap is reached. As long as they stay on their AGL Prepaid plan, the bonus credits never expire.
“This new product is not aimed at vulnerable customers who we already assist with our A Fairer Way package.
“Customers who sign up to AGL Prepaid will also be able to track and receive updates and alerts on their electricity costs and usage via MyAccount and the AGL mobile app.
“Should a customer’s account balance fall below zero, they will simply be billed for subsequent electricity usage on a ‘post-paid’ basis. They will be billed on their agreed electricity rates and charges and will receive a monthly bill.”
Ms Reynolds said this was the second non-discount focused product AGL had introduced in Victoria this year to simplify its product offering.
In January AGL launched AGL Essentials, a simple low rate energy plan for residential customers which is fixed for 12 months.
