In Victoria, 2.2 million homes and 300,000 businesses will have their electricity meters replaced. This is a joint Victorian Government and industry initiative. It means that at some point between now and the end of 2013, each older type of electricity meter in Victoria will be replaced with a ‘Smart Meter’.

How do I know when the replacement will take place?Smart Meter installations will take place between September 2009 and December 2013. When your meter actually changes depends on who your electricity distributor (the company that manages the pole, wires and meters in your area) is and when they get to your area. You can find out who your electricity distributor is by using the Distributor Search Tool.
