On the most topical issue we have seen this century, there has been much speculation about climate change impacts and resolution – from mandatory reporting and public disclosure requirements, to voluntary self-managed initiatives and the looming Emissions Trading Scheme.
Recently we saw the introduction of the National Greenhouse & Energy Reporting Act, the issue of the draft Garnaut review and most recently the ETS Green Paper. Later this year we will see the release of the final Garnaut report with the underlying modelling.
But are we any nearer to understanding what the future holds; what impacts on particular industry and corporations will be; or, what can be done to manage mandatory obligations and maximise voluntary initiatives or even to understand this environment and capture the opportunities created.
