Regulations and Publications  

There are a number of key pieces of legislation and policy around carbon and energy that have been passed or developed in the past few years. These include:

• National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act (NGER) 2007
• Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS)
• Expanded Renewable Energy Target (ERET)
• National Framework for Energy Efficiency

These pieces of legislation and policy have been designed to assist in monitoring Australia’s emissions and driving change toward a low-carbon economy, in line with Australia’s international obligations and the need to address climate change.
