NSW Gas Price Change 2008

Welcome to AGL > Your Business > Small And Medium Business > NSW Gas Price Change 2008

As outlined in our letter to you, and as permitted under your AGL Energy Plan, all AGL NSW small business gas rates will increase.

As a guide, an average NSW small business can expect an increase to their gas rates of approximately $12 per week.

Your next bill, after the effective date detailed in your letter, will reflect your new energy rates.

Q&A

Q. What will the increase be for my Small Business Energy Plan in 2008?
A. Gas rates and charges will increase by up to 12%. These rate increases will apply to customers on a NSW Small Business Energy Plan. Your next bill, after the effective date shown in your letter, will reflect your new energy rates.

Q. Why have my Small Business Gas rates and charges increased by up to 12%?
A. AGL NSW Small Business gas rates will be increased in line with the changes to the costs of purchasing and supplying energy to contracted customers. Small Business price changes have on average been maintained at a similar level to that of the regulated tariff for business customers. AGL generally has the right to vary the charges under an AGL Energy Plan at any time by giving you, the customer, prior notice.

Q. If I transfer to another AGL Energy Plan will I be charged the termination fee?
A. If you choose to take up another AGL offer you will not be charged an early termination fee.

Q. Is AGL the only energy retailer to have a price increase on an annual basis?
A. The regulated energy rates are reviewed and adjusted at least once a year. It may be possible that other energy retailers will also be increasing their prices to reflect changes in the energy market.  At AGL, our Energy Plans allow for an annual price change to be passed through.

Q. Why have my Energy Plan rates and charges increased by more than my neighbours/friends/or other? Or why do I pay more than my neighbour/friend/or other for gas?
A. It is difficult for AGL to speculate in regards to making a direct comparison of this kind. The NSW gas and electricity market is subject to full retail competition. In a competitive market there are many different products available from a number of retailers in competition with each other. There are not only different rates but also a wide range of differing features and benefits associated with products currently available in the market.  We recommend comparing all features of energy plans to ensure that they meet your needs.

Q. What do I have to do to ensure that my rates have been updated?
A. You do not have to do anything, as AGL will ensure that all your rates will be updated.  Your next energy bill, after the effective date detailed in your letter, will reflect the new rates.
