Doers, carers, dreamers and leaders: AGL Survey finds that one in three Australians are ‘Doers’
16 November 2009
Australia’s leading integrated renewable energy company, AGL Energy has found that, consistent with their latest brand offering, “The World is Changed by Doers”, one in three Australians consider themselves to be ‘doers’ - people who take action to make change - and they most admired the actions of heroes from the medical field.
Of the remaining respondents, a third (34%) consider themselves to be ‘carers’, almost a quarter classified themselves as ‘dreamers’ (23%) and the remaining 11% considered themselves as ‘leaders’.
Australia’s most inspirational Doers
Survey respondents were also asked to nominate Australia’s most inspirational Doers.
Medical professionals rated highly in this category, with Dr. Fred Hollows taking out the top spot and Dr. Victor Chang, Prof. Fiona Wood and Prof. Chris O’Brien in the top six (second, fifth and sixth respectively).
Not surprisingly, there were some notable sportspeople who ranked highly, with Glen McGrath taking the third spot and Steve Waugh in ninth place.
According to David Hamilton, AGL’s General Manager Marketing, the survey findings give valuable insight into how Australians perceive themselves and their heroes.
“AGL prides itself on ‘doing’ and as a brand we want to encourage Australians to do so too. This survey gives us a great understanding of what drives Australians and who they look up to. This information is also an effective tool when communicating with current and prospective customers,” said Mr. Hamilton.
