AGL Energy Ltd (AGL), Australia’s largest integrated renewable energy company, will host the Bundaberg launch of the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter service on May 18, celebrating a new partnership between AGL and the Sunshine Coast Helicopter Rescue Service.

The special community event at the Hinkler Central Shopping Centre will give members of the public the opportunity to view the AGL Action Rescue Helicopters up close.

AGL Retail Sales and Marketing General Manager David Hamilton, said the event at the Hinkler Central Shopping Centre reflected the spirit of the new partnership.

“We are celebrating the past and the future by acknowledging the long history of the service and its new beginnings as AGL Action Rescue,” Mr Hamilton said.

“Our sponsorship has secured the ongoing operations of the rescue service which undertakes over 900 critical rescue, medical and search missions throughout south east Queensland each year.”

The helicopters have recently received a face lift after AGL became the new naming sponsor on 1 April. The helicopters now sport a striking new AGL blue and orange livery and carry the name “AGL Action Rescue”.

AGL Action Rescue Chairman, Don Moffatt, believed the local community would quickly connect the new livery and name ‘AGL Action Rescue’ with the timely, safe and reliable Helicopter Service.

“We conduct over 900 missions every year including rescues and life saving patient transfers to hospitals primarily throughout the Queensland region,” Mr Moffatt said.

“By July the fleet will include three Kawasaki BK117 twin engine helicopters capable of flying from Bundaberg to Brisbane in just 75 minutes.”

AGL Action Rescue will continue to service Queensland communities primarily from Brisbane north to Miriam Vale and west through the Wide Bay and Burnett regions, with some tasks extending to Northern NSW and west to Miles and Goondiwindi.

The free public event will be held at the Hinkler Central Shopping Centre topside carpark, 16 Maryborough Street from 9:00am to 11:00am on Monday May 18.
