AGL acquires Brisbane boiler firm to service major customers in QLD
07 April 2010
AGL Energy Limited (AGL) has acquired a Brisbane-based boiler and thermal service business, Boilerland Pty Ltd, which provides services to many of AGL’s major customers in both Queensland and Australia’s southern states.
Boilerland has operated for 23 years and specialises in programmed maintenance and the manufacture of reconditioned and new steam boilers as well as commercial and industrial hot and warm water systems.
AGL’s Head of Carbon Management Services (CMS), Marc Barrington, said the acquisition would enhance AGL’s ability to provide an expanded range of services to its major customers across Australia.
“AGL’s acquisition of Boilerland will complement our existing ability in the southern states to service the industrial and commercial market in combustion and boiler servicing and optimisation,” Mr Barrington said.
“Their boiler business is national and this will allow our southern-based technicians to engage in additional installation and service.”
The business, to be known as AGL Boilerland, has serviced many of AGL’s Queensland-based major customers and has equipment installed on customer’s sites in NSW, Victoria, South Australia and the ACT.
“AGL Boilerland will also provide a unique offering to our customers through its emergency boiler hire service. This will enable our customers to hire boilers at short notice providing an essential back up in times of need allowing our customers to continue their processes with minimal interruption in times of extended breakdown.
“The acquisition will provide a local technical delivery capability that will support the development of deeper customer relationships through the provision of additional services.
“Boilerland’s boiler manufacturing capabilities will give AGL an opportunity for embedded asset ownership of large scale boiler plant nationally.”
AGL Boilerland will sit within AGL’s CMS business, which provides services to AGL’s Major Customers and beyond as part of our integrated sales and service strategy.
