AGL Energy comprises a number of business groups, which together deliver or support AGL’s combined functions of power generation, gas production and energy retailing.

Merchant Energy

Anchored firmly at the upstream end of the energy chain, Merchant Energy is responsible for managing our wholesale gas and electricity trading portfolios, ongoing management of our power generation assets, major customers and energy services activities. Key functions of this group include Carbon Solutions, Energy Portfolio Management, Merchant Operations, Major Customers and Energy Services.  Back to top

 

Gas and Power Development

Also upstream, this newly created group acknowledges the critical importance of our fast-growing gas and power development functions. Gas and Power Development is focused on growing AGL’s upstream gas and generation portfolios to ensure long-term, sustainable and market competitive energy supplies for our customers. Groups include Exploration, Field Development, Production, Land and Approvals, Power Development, PNG Gas Development and Commercial and Finance.

Retail Energy

Downstream, the Retail team is responsible for the marketing and sale of natural gas, electricity and energy related products and services to AGL's nearly 3.7 million residential, small business and commercial customers. The largest of AGL’s business groups, key functions in this group include Sales and Marketing, Customer Operations, Retail Performance and Retail Finance, as well as Phoenix, AGL’s change program to deliver Operational Excellence to retail customers. Finance

The Finance group incorporates the functions of Group Accounting, Treasury and Investor Relations. Finance also includes Group Business Development, which play a key role in executing AGL's mergers and acquisitions strategy via corporate strategic planning, supporting the screening of organic and acquisitive growth opportunities and transactional support throughout the acquisition-to-integration process.  Back to top

 

Information Systems

The Information Systems Group is responsible for the architecture, policy, standards, acquisition, management and maintenance of AGL’s IT assets. The IS Group also delivers governance, management and monitoring of third party IT service providers. The IS Group objective is to provide integrated information systems that meet AGL’s current and future needs. Back to top

 

People and Culture

The People and Culture group delivers AGL’s human resources and property and facilities functions, managing the people resources required to achieve AGL's goals. Driven by a vision ‘Leading results through people’, P&C functions include Business Partnering, Employee Relations, Organisational Development, Leadership and Systems, Health, Safety and Environment, Remuneration and Benefits, Employee Communications  and Property and Facilities. Corporate/Support Services

This specialist team provides a range of corporate support services to ensure that AGL has sustainable and responsible governance and management of our risks. Functions include Legal, Energy Regulatory, Tax, Group Audit, Group Risk and Insurance and Company Secretarial. Back to top

 

Brand and External Relations

Brand and External Relations oversees the coordinated leverage of the AGL corporate brand across every interface including media, government, investor community, our customers and the community at large.  It has a specific focus on improving AGL’s recognition as leader in the carbon and renewables space. Functions include Media, Carbon and Government Affairs, Sustainability and Brand and Corporate Marketing.
