Appointment of Chairman and new Director

AGL Energy Limited (AGL) announced today that Mr Jerry Maycock would succeed
Mr Mark Johnson as Chairman. AGL also announced that Ms Belinda Hutchinson
AM would join the Board as a non-executive director by the end of calendar 2010.
Mr Johnson has previously advised that he would retire from the Board on
21 October 2010 following the conclusion of this year’s Annual General Meeting.
Mr Johnson joined the Board of The Australian Gas Light Company in 1988 and
became Chairman in 2004. He has been Chairman of AGL since its demerger
from The Australian Gas Light Company in October 2006.
Mr Maycock joined the AGL Board in October 2006. His career as an executive
includes more than 20 years at Holcim Limited, one of the world’s largest
construction materials companies. He was Managing Director of Hastie Group
Limited, leading its listing on the Australian Securities Exchange in April 2005.
More recently, he was Managing Director of CSR Limited until his retirement as an
executive in March this year. He is also on the Advisory Council of the Australian
School of Business (UNSW).
Ms Hutchinson is the Chairman of QBE Insurance Group Limited and a director of
St Vincent's Health Australia. Her previous public company experience includes
directorships of Telstra Corporation Limited, Coles Group Limited, TAB Limited
and Crane Group Limited. She has also served as a director of Energy Australia
and Snowy Hydro Trading. She brings extensive finance industry experience
having been an executive director of Macquarie Group and, prior to that, a vice

Belinda Hutchinson is the Chairman of QBE Insurance Group Limited, a Director of St Vincent’s Health Australia Limited, the Salvation Army Eastern Territory and Sydney Advisory Board and a member of ASIC’s External Advisory Panel. Belinda was previously a director of Telstra Corporation Ltd, Coles Myer Limited, Energy Australia Ltd, TAB Limited, Crane Group Limited, Snowy Hydro Trading Limited and Sydney Water Corporation. She was President of the Council of the State Library of New South Wales in 2005-2006 and a member of the Council from 1997-2006.
From 1992 to 1997, Belinda was an Executive Director of Macquarie Group where she was the Head of Macquarie Underwriting Limited. From 1981 to 1992, she was a Vice President at Citibank Australia in corporate finance.
Belinda holds a Bachelor of Economics Degree from the University of Sydney and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
