AGL Energy Online

Renewable Energy

For our customers, our investors and the communities in which we live and work, AGL is leading the way toward a more sustainable energy future. To that end we have become Australia's largest private owner, operator and developer of renewable energy generation facilities.

Indeed, Renewable sources make up 30% of AGL’s generation capacity (power stations owned, operated or otherwise controlled by AGL) - energy generation that comes from many locations and is produced through a variety of technologies including;

  • Landfill gas in the eastern states, Tasmania and Western Australia
  • Biomass in Queensland
  • Biogas in Victoria
  • Solar in South Australia
  • Wind farms in South Australia and Victoria
  • Hydroelectricity assets concentrated around the Victorian and NSW border
  • Gas fired generation in South Australia (Torrens Island Power Station), Queensland (Moranbah) and Victoria (Somerton).

We support the Government's Clean Energy Future initiatives and are taking effective action to meet the government's emission reduction targets at the lowest cost to our customers and all Australian families and businesses.
